Marble Maze/Obby
A downloadable game
Help Marble Walter White escape Zoe to get back to his normal Walter White self.
When originally making this game, I wanted to make a normal maze type of game where it was kind of like a garden maze or like corn maze, just your classic type of maze with some minor obstacles. Then, I kind of got carried away with the textures. I originally was going to have the marble be my face with my tongue sticking out because the picture is kind of an inside joke with my friends but then I found this Walter White picture and I thought it was hilarious. Which got me thinking that if I just plastered my face around the game, which granted is a little frightening with my tongue sticking out it would almost be like a “Escape the BLANK obby” which I personal grew up on while playing Roblox and they usually have the most stupid things you’re escaping from.
Because we needed to make three obstacles, I based them off of things I would see in a Roblox Obby. First I have the trick “tunnels” with the options of three to go out of, and only one works. Then you have to balance yourself on a bridge going sideways which personally, I found it pretty hard to do so when I am a marble just rolling around all the time. Then for the third obstacle, you’re needing to go platform to platform while dodging the not platforms. Which, again I think is really hard to do as a marble so I might have made it a little bit too hard because I struggled with it and I made the game. Or maybe I’m just a bad gamer.
I didn’t necessarily struggle with making anything in the game this time, like I did last time. I do think I am getting better at Unity, especially 3D Unity. I’ve only previously worked in Unity 2D and it felt like I had to do a lot of things differently which was a bit harder but now I feel like I’m finally using Unity right. While this is a really silly and extremely simple game, I am proud of myself in how I made it because I genuinely had a fun time making this project as well as just having the satisfaction that I coded it and even though it was super simple it was my first time doing something like that and actually feeling that I’m learning from it!
